Overview
A faulty thermostat can cause overheating, slow warm-up or unstable coolant temperature.
Replacement Steps
- Let the engine cool completely before opening the cooling system.
- Drain enough coolant to lower the level below the thermostat housing.
- Remove hoses and mounting bolts carefully.
- Clean the mating surface and install the new thermostat with a new seal.
- Refill with the correct coolant mixture and bleed air from the system.
- Warm the engine and check for leaks.
